The 21st Busan Fireworks Festival takes place on Saturday 7 November 2026. The fireworks themselves run for one hour, from 19:00 to 20:00.
It is the largest fireworks event in Korea, and because the show is staged against Gwangan Bridge it produces a picture you cannot get anywhere else in the country. It also draws an enormous crowd. This post covers the paid-seat prices, how to book, and the timing rule that costs you your ticket with no refund if you miss it.

Three locations are listed because the fireworks are launched from several points, so the show is visible from Igidae and Dongbaekseom as well as from Gwangalli. The paid seating is set up on Gwangalli Beach.
Paid seats and booking
There are two seat types.

You may buy a maximum of four tickets per person. Tickets are posted in a single batch on 12 October 2026.
There are several booking channels and their deadlines all differ.
- Regular sale, NOL Ticket — from 4 September 2026 at 14:00 until 6 November at 17:00. This is the channel that stays open longest.
- BNK Busan Bank mobile banking — until 1 November at 23:59
- BNK Busan Bank branches — until close of business on 5 November
- Accommodation packages, NOL Ticket — until 25 October at 23:59
- The early-bird window already closed on 26 August.
If you are coming from abroad, NOL Ticket is the realistic option. The Busan Bank channels need an account or an in-person visit.
Wheelchair seating cannot be booked online. You have to call the customer centre on 1544-1555, and entry is through a dedicated wheelchair gate. No designated seat is provided.
There is a Busan-resident discount, but it requires a physical photo ID showing a Busan address and can only be collected at the on-site pickup booth. It does not apply to visitors.
The 18:00 rule, which matters more than anything else here
This is the single most important line in the post.
Paid-seat entry opens at 15:00, and if you have not reached your seat by 18:00 you are refused entry and refused a refund.
That condition is stated as such in the official guide. The fireworks start at 19:00, so anyone who reasons “18:30 will be fine” is throwing the ticket away.
The reason is easy enough to guess. The crowds are large enough that access is controlled after that point. Play it safe and be near Gwangalli by 17:00 at the latest.
Watching for free
Gwangalli Beach is a public beach that anyone can walk onto, and the paid seating occupies only part of it. Watching from the beach is free.
One thing has to be stated precisely here. The official guide has not yet published which areas will be free viewing zones in 2026. The road-closure page on the official site has no 2026 content either. Controlled and open areas are adjusted every year, so check the official site or call 051-713-5000 before you travel.
If you go the free route, be ready for what that means. You need to arrive far earlier to claim a spot, and from the back you will be watching over other people’s heads. The subway stations are also extremely crowded on the way out.
Getting there
Busan subway Busan Line 2 runs past Gwangalli. Gwangan station and Geumnyeonsan station are both within walking distance. It is around 12 minutes from Seomyeon and around 12 minutes from Haeundae.
From Seoul, the KTX reaches Busan in about 2 hours 17 minutes, ₩54,400 (about $41) in standard class. Our Busan travel guide has the detail.
The road-closure plan around Gwangalli on festival day has not been published for 2026. There have been closures in previous years, so driving is not advised. The subway is the safe choice.
Practical notes
- Early November in Busan is chilly. You will be sitting by the sea for hours, so bring a coat. That applies to the paid seats and to the beach alike.
- Book accommodation early. People come from all over the country for this. How much room rates rise at this time could not be verified from official sources.
- Paid-seat tickets are posted on 12 October. If you will have left Korea by then, or have no Korean address, check the delivery options with the booking channel.
- Deal with toilets and food in advance. Once you are in the crowd it is hard to leave your spot and get back to it.
- Keep the day after the festival loose. Getting out afterwards takes time.
Wrapping up
The Busan Fireworks Festival is worth planning a trip around. Nowhere else in Korea uses an entire bridge as the backdrop for a firework show.
Two things to remember: Saturday 7 November at 19:00, and if you have a paid seat you must be sitting in it by 18:00. The rest is a matter of arriving early and waiting.
