Gangnam accommodation for visitors to Seoul: which station to book near, five-star hotels around COEX and Sinsa, mid-range and business options, and whether Gangnam is worth the price.
Gangnam has the largest hotel rooms in Seoul, the highest concentration of five-star properties, and the highest prices. Whether that is worth it depends entirely on why you are here.
Prices are per-night bands for a double room in low-to-mid season, from booking-site averages as of September 2026. Add 20–40% in April–May and September–October, and more during large COEX events.
Book by station, not by district
Gangnam is too big to treat as one place. Decide what you are here for, then pick the station.

Samseong is the easiest for most visitors: the airport bus terminates there, the mall is underground, and the two historic sights are walkable.
Luxury: ₩350,000 and up
- Park Hyatt Seoul — at Samseong, floor-to-ceiling glass, the pool and bar on the top floor, generally considered the best-designed hotel in the district.
- Josun Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel — also at Samseong, newer, large rooms, strong service.
- InterContinental Seoul COEX and Grand InterContinental Parnas — two properties either side of the convention centre, the practical choice if you are attending something there.
- Andaz Seoul Gangnam — at Sinsa, more design-led and closer to Garosu-gil.
- Signiel Seoul — technically Jamsil, ten minutes east, at the top of Lotte World Tower.
Rooms in this tier are typically 35–50㎡, which is roughly double a mid-range room elsewhere in Seoul. If space matters, this is where it exists.
Mid-range: ₩150,000–250,000
- Novotel Ambassador Seoul Gangnam — reliable, near Sinnonhyeon, good breakfast, a short walk to Gangnam Station.
- Ibis Ambassador Seoul Gangnam — smaller rooms, cheaper, same area.
- Hotel Cappuccino — a design hotel at Nonhyeon, well reviewed and better value than its neighbours.
- Ramada, Best Western and similar chains cluster around Yeoksam and Seolleung at the lower end of this band.
Budget: ₩80,000–140,000
Gangnam’s “budget” is other districts’ mid-range. What you get is a clean, small business-hotel room near a station, without character.
- Business hotels around Gangnam Station and Yeoksam — plenty of them, functional, 15–20㎡.
- Serviced residences in Yeoksam — better value for stays over four nights, with a kitchenette and washing machine.

Getting there from the airport
- Airport bus Bus 6103 — ₩17,000 to the COEX city airport terminal at Samseong. The easiest route with luggage.
- AREX to Seoul Station, then Line 9 or Line 2 with a transfer. Cheaper, 80–90 minutes total.
- Taxi — ₩70,000–90,000 and 60–80 minutes.

Is Gangnam worth the price?
Yes, if: you have an event at COEX; you want a genuinely large room; you are shopping at Apgujeong or Garosu-gil; you have been to Seoul before and done the palaces; you are travelling on business.
No, if: it is your first trip. The historic centre is 30–40 minutes away, and you will spend a meaningful share of your holiday on Line 2. Myeongdong or Jongno costs less and puts you closer to what you came to see.

What to check before you book
- Which station, and which exit. Gangnam blocks are long; 700m can be a 12-minute walk.
- Whether the rate includes breakfast, which is often ₩30,000–50,000 extra here and rarely worth it.
- COEX event dates. Large conventions push rates up sharply and fill hotels months ahead.
- Room size in square metres, which is the main thing you are paying for.
- Sinbundang Line surcharges if your hotel is on that line — it costs more than the regular subway and the Climate Card does not cover it.
Wrapping up
If you are in Gangnam for a reason, book near Samseong for convenience or Sinsa for atmosphere, and take the larger room that your money actually buys here. If you are choosing Gangnam because it sounds famous, spend less and stay north of the river instead.
